Solar energy is free to use but has its limitation. It will generate very little amount of power for the surface it occupies therefore making it a costly solution for powering up household-based system. As an example, in order to be able to power the average house, you would need to cover the roof of three houses and use massive amounts of batteries. The most expensive part of a solar system is a solar panel themselves. Width that you must install battery banks, a charge regulator and an inverter to convert the stored power into household current.
But solar system are ideal for application needing little amount of energy. LED powered lighting system for example, requires very little amount of power and generate impressive quantity of light. Nowadays technology in led lighting system keeps improving and offers us alternative that are very interesting and competitive to conventional incandescent light bulb. Also it could be used to power up a slow charging battery system.
One of the main advantages of solar system is as long as the sun shines it provides a constant flow of energy. Even in dim light conditions solar system is still giving enough energy to be used for something. But the beauty of it all, once your system is paid and installed, it cost barely nothing to use! Also contrary to the popular belief in colder weather solar panels tend to produce more energy than in warm or hot weather.
